Hello, World! (A First Post for a New Beginning)

Quite a fitting title for my first blog post on this new website, don’t you think?

I’m genuinely excited about the prospect of learning a lot more about digital arts and sharing my experience via this newly created platform. Right now, it’s a bare-bones operation, I know, but I’m sure there will be many changes to come. For now, this medium exists simply to share with the world what I’m learning and what I’ve already learned. It’s about creating a space for this journey, and that feels pretty great.

If you register for an account, you’ll be able to comment on posts and save your favorite content for later viewing. I know things are just getting started here, so you might be thinking, What content? But who knows? In a year or two, with a little hard work, there could be some nuggets of wisdom or maybe a few decent pieces of art worth saving in an archive.

The long-term vision is a little fuzzy, but wonderfully wide open at the moment. I may, at some point, open a digital store with various tools and works for sale—maybe some custom brushes, cool assets, or even prints of my best (or maybe just my less-bad) digital creations. The possibilities are what make this whole thing so thrilling.

Why Digital Arts, Why Now?

I have always had an affinity towards gadgetry and a serious admiration for digital arts. For years, I’d scroll through stunning photography, mind-bending video creations, and intricate graphic art, telling myself, “I could never do that.” While I have tinkered in web development for many years, which involves its own kind of digital mastery, I’ve not done much in the way of photography, video creation, graphic art, or digital drawing.

Why the delay? Honestly, I’ve always thought of it as being too time consuming. It felt like a massive wall of technical skill and artistic talent I just didn’t have the hours to climb. But lately, I’ve come to realize I’m missing out by not just jumping in and doing a little at a time. You don’t have to be a master on day one. You just have to be willing to start. This platform is my commitment to that start—to dedicate those “little bits of time” to learning new things.

I plan to dive into tools like Adobe’s suite, maybe mess around with some open-source alternatives, and ultimately, try to wrap my head around the concepts of light, composition, and colour theory. Expect to see posts on my initial blunders and, hopefully, my eventual triumphs across various digital mediums.

I know this is a very short first post and the website as a whole lacks content at the moment, but that’s the nature of a new beginning, isn’t it? If you are on a similar journey, enjoy digital arts, or have knowledge to share from your own experience, please don’t hesitate to leave a comment wherever you feel compelled to do so. Let’s build a little community here.

Future posts will be a mix of my creations, thoughts, ideas, and detailed breakdowns of the tools and tutorials I use. I just wanted to take a quick moment to plant the flag, say hello to the world, and kick off this exciting new chapter!
